In the year 2019, Ubisoft will not launch the sequel to the action game, stealth combined with the open world – Assassin’s Creed.
At the GamesCom 2018 event, held in Cologne, Germany, Ubisoft chief executive Yves Guillemot revealed about Ubisoft’s plans for the future. Ubisoft’s director also said that in 2019, Ubisoft will not launch the sequel to the action game series, covertly combining the open world – Assassin’s Creed. And instead, the company will add new missions in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey to keep the players.
“About Assassin’s, we have the Odyssey coming out in October, so we’re not planning on releasing a sequel to the Assassin’s series next year“, Guillemot said.
Ubisoft’s director further explained that, the latest Assassin’s series, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey 2018 and Assassin’s Creed Origins 2017, have been developed by the team at the same time, so teams need time to relax before developing new titles.
“Just because of the separate team, we now have the Odyssey and Origins, so next year there will be no new game titles“.
Guillemot insists that no additional by-product of Assassin’s Creed will be released to replace the sequel to the series.
“What players will receive in 2019 is a lot of new quests in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. The team really wants to deliver new content on a regular basis so that players can experience and enjoy the next few years“.
Responding to the decision to stop the annual release of the Assassin’s series and to provide additional time for the development team to follow the storyline of Assassin’s Creed Origins, Guillemot said:
“Time has given the team the ability to create what they want. The gaming community around the world has responded very well to what we have created in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. And they will be happy if we develop further on the origin of the plot of Assassin’s Creed Origins“.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is expected to be available on October 5 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Background in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be based in Ancient Greece, where players will be chosen to play one of two male or female characters.
