Maintaining such a long-lived and thriving product has been a success, but the Jagex developer has a bigger ambition than this. Jages has officially announced that the game will land on mobile version. In addition, it will also support cross-play between mobile and PC players.
Both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape versions will appear on mobile phones. The Old School version will premiere this winter, then the “modern” one will be also released. They will allow players on PC and mobile to interact with each other and players are able to switch their character to experience the game on PC or mobile at any time.
“RuneScape games will become the first major Western MMORPGs to support full compatibility and experience on both mobile and PC versions,” the developer said.
RuneScape 2001 vs 2017
RuneScape has two different game versions. One side is the main update that the developer has developed since 2001. And Old School is based on the 2007 version, released in 2013.
RuneScape takes place in the world of Gielinor, a medieval fantasy realm divided into different kingdoms, regions and cities. Gamers can travel through Gielinor by a number of methods including walking, magic, or hiring transport. Each area brings different types of monsters, resources and quests to challenge players.
