Some fans of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild are not satisfied and want more interactive community when experiencing in game. So some fans decided to make it happen and started developing a version with multiplayer mod for Breath of the Wild.
By using the Wii U emulator on a PC called Cemu, Fooni – a member of the mod team, discussed the co-op project they are doing with a few others. Currently, the mod is still in the early stages of development, and players will have to wait for a long time to try this version. So temporarily, we can only look at some of the shared concept photos.
Currently, the mod only works on a PC and uses local controls. In addition, it requires Cemu to open two clients at the same time and this leads to performance instability, according to S1ash members sharing on Reddit. In addition, he pointed out that there are many issues arising in the user interface and gameplay which need overcoming.
Fooni says that the mod operates by moving the NPC to the main player, swapping its model with Link, and then let the second player control it. He acknowledges this process will take a long time – perhaps a couple of years – to complete. However, the possibility that it was never released is high, because Nintendo can intervene and squeeze the project as they did in the past.
